16 Days of Activism in Hertfordshire 2025

Spread awareness about violence against women and girls over 16 Days of Activism, and share information about the available support services.

Every year, people across the world come together to celebrate the international 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs from 25November (International Day Against Violence Against Women) to the 10 December (International Human Rights Day).

16 Days of Activism calls for an end to gender-based violence, also commonly known as ‘Violence against women and girls (VAWG)’. VAWG describes a range of harmful or abusive behaviours that disproportionately affect women and girls, including sexual violence, stalking and harassment, domestic abuse, ‘so called’ Honour-based abuse and revenge porn. They can affect anyone and have traumatic, long-lasting impacts.

In 2025, the international campaign’s theme (via UN Women UK) is #NoExcuseforOnlineAbuse. Hertfordshire’s Domestic Abuse (DA) and VAWG Partnership take part in the campaign each year and encourage all Partners and residents of Hertfordshire to take part in two key initiatives, Orange the World, and White Ribbon Day #WeSpeakUp campaign. You can find out more about both initiatives in the attached Sunflower Newsletter.
