Herts Sunflower Network

Quarterly Herts Sunflower Champions Network meeting: 

Wed 18 March, 10am - 12pm, Online, BOOK HERE

Taking a strategic approach to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Hertfordshire Safer Places will introduce the newly launched National VAWG Strategy, followed by the Hertfordshire VAWG Partnership presenting the new local Hertfordshire VAWG Strategy. Together, we will explore what these developments mean for victims and survivors of domestic abuse in Hertfordshire. The meeting will also spotlight how the strategy prioritises reducing harm by engaging with those responsible for causing it. Guest speaker Kira Day, Operations Manager at The Chrysalis Centre, will share how we can better identify perpetrators, hold them to account, and support behaviour‑change interventions. Attendees will then have the opportunity to discuss the strategy with fellow champions.

To mark International Women’s Day, we are pleased to invite you to the first of our new Cross-County Exploration & Training (E&T) sessions on Monday, 9th March from 13.00-14.30 hosted by Hertfordshire domestic Abuse Helpline in partnership with the Hertfordshire Domestic Abuse & VAWG Partnership Forums.

The exploration element will be driven by a number of guest speakers connected to the county, bringing perspectives rooted in lived experience, activism and partnership practice.

The training element will be delivered by Rosie Lewis, University of Hertfordshire, who will guide us through the Domestic Homicide Timeline, supporting shared understanding of risk, escalation and opportunities for intervention. All professional partners welcome.

Menopause can bring emotional, physical and psychological changes, and these can sometimes influence how we connect with partners, family members and the people closest to us. Shifts in communication, understanding and expectations can all play a part, and having space to explore these challenges can make a meaningful difference.Hertfordshire county Council is delighted to welcome Doreen from The Relationships Service, who brings extensive experience supporting people through menopause‑related relationship issues. She will be sharing insight from her counselling work, including the common themes she sees and practical approaches that can help strengthen relationships during this time of change.

Join Hertfordshire County Council for an inspiring in‑person speaker and networking event celebrating women in local leadership who are championing for change in the field of Violence against women and girls.  Hear from guest speakers as they share their personal career journeys, the challenges they’ve faced, and the impact they're making in Hertfordshire. All welcome to join this opportunity to connect, be inspired and drive positive change. Led by Hertfordshire County Council White Ribbon steering group.

Other training

LGBTQ+ Gender Identity Awareness

Impactful Governance offer training on LGBTQ+ Gender Identity Awareness.

Their sessions are evidence based from 3 years of LGBTQ+ research in Hertfordshire.

The sessions are 3 hours long and allow staff to explore issues, look at different perspectives, and think about how it feels for LGBTQ+ people to try to access services that are not designed for them.

The cost is £500 for the 3 hours for up to 15 participants.
